It happened around 3 a.m. Sunday, September 27th at the Early Birds Ultra Lounge on Wells Street.
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Police arrested a man in connection to a stabbing early Sunday morning that happened in the parking lot of a night club.
According to an incident report provided by the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers were called to help clear the parking lot at Early Birds Ultra Lounge at 4201 Wells St. around 3 a.m. The report indicated shortly after, officers were alerted of a cutting or stabbing and given a description of a subject.
One officer noticed a person fitting that description getting in a vehicle. The report indicated the officer stopped the vehicle before it could leave the parking lot. In the passenger seat was David A. Owens, who was asked to exit the vehicle.
An officer observed an empty sheathe on his and a large knife on the ground of the passenger seat in plain view, according to the report.
Around that time, the officer was notified that a man arrived at a hospital in serious condition with lacerations to his back.
The incident report included information from witness who told police they saw Owens stab the victim and then hurry across the parking lot. Owens was placed into police custody and taken to be interviewed. The report noted that he had cuts on his hand. Police towed the vehicle until they were able to obtain a search warrant.
